Why I Take This One
I take this one because ginger makes me feel awake from the inside out. Lemon brings that clean vitamin C brightness, cayenne gives it a spicy kick, turmeric adds earthiness, and honey rounds the edges so the shot feels fiery but still kind.
When I am dragging or I feel that suspicious tickle in my throat, this is the shot I make before I even think about coffee. I do not pretend it is magic, but I do believe in stacking small caring habits, and this one makes me feel like I am showing up for my body early.

Here's What You'll Need
You will need a three inch piece of fresh ginger peeled and roughly chopped, the juice of one large lemon, a quarter teaspoon of cayenne pepper, a quarter teaspoon of ground turmeric, one teaspoon of raw honey, and a quarter cup of cold water.
How I Make It
I add the ginger, lemon juice, cayenne, turmeric, honey, and cold water to my blender first. Then I blend on high for 60 seconds until the ginger is completely broken down and the liquid looks golden and strong.
I strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or nut milk bag, pressing until every spicy drop is out. Then I pour it into a small shot glass and drink it immediately, usually with a glass of water waiting nearby because this one means business.
Made's Tips
Fresh ginger is worth it here because powdered ginger does not give the same lively heat.
If cayenne feels too intense, I start with just a tiny pinch and build up slowly over time.
I always drink this right after making it because the flavor is brightest before it sits.
