What you will need
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- ¾ cup cold water
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
How to make it
Put the water in a clean glass or small pitcher.
Add the other ingredients and stir or whisk until mixed.
Taste a small amount and add water if too sharp. Divide into servings and stir again before drinking.
Adjust the flavor
For a gentler taste, use more water and less lemon. If you dislike vinegar, leave it out and make lemon water instead.
A useful preparation tip
Stir rather than blend; there is no firm produce to break down. Taste a small sip before deciding whether to add the honey.
Serving and keeping it fresh
Make a small batch close to serving for the best texture. Cover and refrigerate promptly if you save a portion. Separation can happen; stir before serving. Fresh homemade juice is untreated, and lemon does not make it shelf-stable.
FoodSafety.gov recommends refrigerating perishable food within two hours, or one hour above 90°F, and keeping the refrigerator at 40°F or below.
Portions and ingredients
Fruit size and optional ingredients can change the final quantity. Use the ingredient labels and actual portions if you track nutrition. Check packaged ingredients for allergens and choose substitutions that suit your needs.
