Wheatgrass Energy Shot

I call this wheatgrass energy shot my secret weapon on days when coffee is simply not cutting it. The first time I tried wheatgrass, I expected it to taste like lawn clippings and honestly, I was not completely wrong. Then I added cucumber, lemon, and mint, and suddenly it became fresh instead of frightening. Now it is my green little wake up call when I want clean energy without another cup of coffee.

Why I Take This One

I take this one because wheatgrass feels deeply green in the best possible way. Cucumber cools it down, lemon brightens it, and mint makes it taste like something I chose happily rather than something I endured for health points.

The chlorophyll hit feels different from caffeine for me. It does not make me buzzy, it just makes me feel clearer and a little more awake, especially on heavy mornings when my brain wants to move slowly.

Here's What You'll Need

You will need one ounce of fresh wheatgrass or one teaspoon of wheatgrass powder, the juice of half a lemon, a three inch piece of cucumber, four fresh mint leaves, and a quarter cup of cold water.

How I Make It

I add the cold water, cucumber, lemon juice, mint, and wheatgrass to the blender. If I am using powder, I blend until the color is even and vivid. If I am using fresh wheatgrass, I blend a little longer so the fibers break down as much as possible.

Then I strain it through a fine mesh strainer and press the pulp firmly. I pour the bright green juice into a shot glass and drink it cold, usually while standing at the counter and pretending I am more organized than I am.

Made's Tips

Start with a small amount of wheatgrass if the flavor is new to you because it has a strong green personality.

Fresh mint makes this shot much more refreshing, so I do not skip it unless I truly have to.

Drink it cold because warmth makes wheatgrass taste more intense than I personally enjoy.

Made's Note

This wheatgrass shot is bold, green, and a little dramatic in the best way. I hope it gives you the kind of clean morning lift that makes you feel ready for the next thing.
